Microsoft outlook 2016 will not start free
Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. I had a problem starting Outlook this morning too – not after upgrading but just randomly stopped working stuck on ‘Processing’ splash screen. I disabled Norton Anti-Spam, closed Outlook and reopened normally.
Started straight away. I re-enabled Norton Anti Spam and restarted Outlook without any issues. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.

After upgrading to Outlook , all I get after I hit the icon is the blue box with loading profile, and then this message, “Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed” I tried downloading Microsoft Exchange Server, but that didn’t fix the problem. Any help appreciated. If you were previously using Exchange that is currently not compatible with Outlook , and if that the case you contact MS Support for them to take you through the process of installing Office Not sure why but it works if you right click and run as administrator.
In reply to freetail’s post on January 11, Dave Antley. I had the same problem today. I didn’t do any updates or upgrades so I have no idea what triggered the problem. Regardless, I started Outlook in Safe mode as you described and restarted in regular mode with no more problems.

Thanks for the update. If you see Office wanting to re-install the latest version of the update go to File, Office Account, Update Options, and Disable updates. If you do this make sure to put a reminder on your calendar for about a month out to re-enable updates. I am fairly certain that this is a bug that we recently found but I am not sure how you were hitting it. The bug has to do with crashing because of certain HTML that could be in an email or a file that Outlook is enumerating.
The fix is supposed to go out in the next major update which is not yet scheduled but I think will be in the next two weeks. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Every time I start outlook i get a message box saying “Microsoft Outlook has stopped working”.
Then another one stating “a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available”. I tried not running any other services through startup and still get the same issue. Any suggestions?
